Our voyage to Europe began on march 22, 2017 on British Air flight 0048 from Seattle to London. It has been many years since I have traveled to Europe and I approached this flight with a mixture of excitement for the journey ahead and a small bit of dread. While I fly all the time for work, and often take the six-hour flight from one coast tot he other, the thought of a nine hour flight was a bit daunting.
I was more than pleasantly surprised by the flight, the service on British Air and how quickly we seemed to get there. The flight was very organized, with drinks served almost immediately after takeoff. The flight attendants worked small sections of passengers and got to everyone very quickly. A fully stocked (and open!) bar made it easy to enjoy a few glasses of Tempranillo even before dinner was served.
Dinner arrived quickly, and was an amazing assortment of things, pre-packed in little compartments. We had everything we needed on one tray …salad, dressing, rolls, butter, pasta, water and a petite chocolate gateaux. A screen built in to the seat in front of me, complete with remote control, provided music, movies, and tv shows along with an interactive map to track the journey.
I enjoyed none of these as I planned to sleep for most of the flight, and wake up in London ready to take on the day…and that is exactly what I did!
